@werehatrack plus one for the dark but no fruity centers for me please caramel would work a good coffee would work butterscotch. Remember the old Seas butterscotch candies but in a dark chocolate that would really trip my trigger

I’ve noticed that our cat doesn’t show any interest in the plants that we happen to acquire that aren’t good for him. I wonder if they’ve got some kind of 6th sense and aren’t interested in things that are harmful to them?
Gift-giving is apparently not my love language, because I often get squeamish/uncomfortable receiving gifts.
But maybe AI can come up with something good?
/showme a typical Valentine's Day give that I would appreciate
Nope. (nothing specifically wrong with the chocolate, except that there’s nothing great about it either… and none of them look dark enough)
Story: While [5 months?] pregnant with our 1st kid, my wife and I decided we’d like to go out to eat somewhere. We had forgotten that it was Valentine weekend. (that’s how much the holiday means to us) Oops. Luckily we did not starve to death before we got seated.
We picked Good Wood Barbecue, a place we’d driven past a few times, but never gone in. My wife normally doesn’t care much for steak (or most red meat, really), but she was pregnant. And much like pregnant Phoebe from Friends, she was in the mood for steak.
It was awesome.
Both of us loved it. Expensive and a long wait, but completely worth it.
Epilogue:We went back there several years later and were unimpressed. Either we were a lot hungrier the first time, a lot more pregnant (well, I was exactly as pregnant) the first time, or the chef/food had changed. It was not what we remembered, and not really worth it. We have not been back since.
I’m a big fan of getting flowers for Valentine’s Day! Last year, I got a gorgeous bouquet of roses and lilies, and it just made the day feel extra special. I’ve also used IGP to send flowers to a friend before, and they were so happy with it. There’s just something about flowers that always brightens up a day, and IGP makes it easy to find a great bouquet.
I always value thoughtful Valentine’s presents over expensive ones. One of my favourites is a great scent because it lasts for a long time. In addition, I enjoy handwritten cards, flowers, and chocolates. For me, the most important aspect of the present is the effort and unique gesture.
I don’t buy flowers on V-Day or Mother’s Day. Those are “holidays” where you can buy overpriced almost dead flowers… or not. I have an Amish market around the corner from me and I buy my wife flowers 5-6 times a year. The florist knows me and knows my wife loves sunflowers. I’ve been shopping there for 20 years. I always visit her first and just say, ‘something around $30?’ and when I’m done with the rest of my shopping she will have the perfect bouquet ready for me I’ll get home and give them to my smiling wife and just say, ‘Happy Thursday’ I would always much rather do the unexpected than the expected.

Bringing flowers to my wife is a bit of a “coals to Newcastle” thing. We have so many flowers in the yard I can make pretty amazing arrangements by spending 15 minutes with a pair of clippers and a vase full of water.
That being said, I definitely agree with you that spontaneous, unexpected, ‘just because’ surprise gifts rock.
I chose chocolate because it’s always tasty. I love plushies, but most of the ones sold on Valentine’s Day are cheap, tacky ones.
Chocolate, but make it dark, with fruity centers. And no silly heart-shaped box.

Plants instead of cut flowers!
Chocolate is momentary. Bears are forever.

I dunno…
BTW this is in poor taste. I’m sorry.
A little.
@JoJoe86 @shahnm Why would you post that??
Absolution from having to pretend that this is a real holiday…
@lonocat am so agree with the cat
@lonocat @mycya4me But is chocolate not toxic to cats?
Not that hoomans are any better at eating only what is healthy and drinking only what is non-toxic.
@lonocat @mycya4me @xobzoo
It IS bad for cats. But I’ve never had a cat show any interest in it.
@Kyeh @mycya4me @xobzoo
I canz eat white chocolate!

Is this just I once a year thing for you… Valentine’s Day only?

Although that unique “Hopp elrff’e you” card is a nice touch.
Steak
Not sure if it’s “typical” or not.
